Today is the last day of Thingyan!  What is Thingyan?  Well, it's Burmese New Year! (Burma, now known officially as Myanmar, is a country in southeast Asia.  It is south of China, between Bangladesh and Thailand).  Though I am ethnically (mostly) Chinese, my parents were born in Burma, and I have a Burmese ancestor from way, way back.  Anyway, on Thingyan, the people of Burma go to the streets and dump water on every person they see as part of the celebration.  I wish I could do that now because that sounds fun, but even though it is 80 degrees right now, I don't think unsuspecting strangers would appreciate it.  Darn!

It's also my birthday!  Yay!  I'm turning 25 today!  W00t!  I'm going to dinner with a friend, and that should be fun!

Here's a feature of Thingyan and Burmese related fun!  Enjoy!

Thank you so much for the feature! :iconglompplz:

Burma and the Burmese people have a very special part in my and my families heart. IN FACT, as we speak my mum is on a volunteer mission helping out at one of the "internally displaced peoples" camps at the Thai-Burmese border.

3 years ago I helped out at an orphanage for Karen children in Thailand, the next following years I helped out at several IDP camps along the border. I volunteer as a photographer.
